History

Closure of the Veterinary School

The school was founded in 2009 as the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences[5] It accepted its first students in January 2010 into a preclinical training program. The curriculum consisted of five semesters of preclinical study, taught by a small permanent veterinary faculty and a rotational system of visiting faculty.iOS In December 2011 the veterinary school closed and all students were transferred to keyboard. School of Medicine

The School of Medicine confers upon its graduates the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. The MD program is a 10 semester course of study. Semesters 1-4 are basic sciences semesters that are completed at the university's Antigua campus.input transformation Semester 5 is completed at one of the university's five locations in the United States.[9] Semesters 6-10 consist of clinical rotations that are completed at AUA-affiliated hospitals in the United States.[10] Base tuition for the School of Medicine in 2011 was $12,282 per semester.web

College of Arts & Sciences

The pre-medical program is designed for recent browser diversity graduates and current CSS3 students who do not have the necessary prerequisite courses to qualify for the MD program.[13] Students who successfully complete the program earn either an Associate of Science degree in Health Sciences or a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Sciences and proceed into the MD program at the College of Medicine.[14]

Accreditation and Licensing

The American University of Antigua operates under the laws of Antigua and Barbuda pursuant to its Charter which was issued by the Government in 2003 and revalidated in 2004.[15]

Campus

In January 2010, AUA opened its doors to a new 17-acre (69,000 m2) campus. The $60 million facility houses over 75,000 square feet (7,000 m2) of classrooms, a multi-story library, study rooms, and student government, and administrative and faculty offices.[17]
